Public Forum on the Microbiome

Thu 7 Nov

13:00 - 14:00

VENUE: Naturalis
ORGANIZER: Leiden University

Human evolution is not just human history, but the story of our interaction with the viruses, fungi, and bacteria that inhabit us. Learning more about the microbiome is likely to change the way medicine is practiced. It may also have implications for our social and legal systems and it challenges the concept of ourselves. In this forum we explore the many implications of the microbiome from a medical perspective (prof. dr. E. Kuijper, LUMC), a philosophical (dr. Agnieszka Anna Wołodźko) and artistic perspective (Sonja Bäumel). Moderator, prof. dr. Robert Zwijnenberg (Universiteit Leiden).
